Standing Committee
In response to the fact that local administration is complicated and thus requires expertise, the Standing Committee, as a conference body, is composed of a small number of council members who have expertise in respective areas. They effectively address matters in each area of their expertise.
The Standing Committee examines bills and petitions that fall under their respective jurisdictions, and examines particular matters entrusted by the local council. Also, the Standing Committee begins its session when the chairperson deems it necessary, or when 1/3 or more of registered members demands it.
The Gangnam-gu Council has currently organized three standing committees: the Operation Committee, the Administration & Finance Committee and the Public Welfare & Urban Construction Committee.
